I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where I want to take this brand and my career. I’ve always loved slinging outfits, styling photoshoots and being expressive through style, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to do more. I’ve been thinking about coming out with this sweatshirt for a while now and there is something about the thought process of “doing good” that just keeps coming back to my mind. A small statement, but a big meaning:
What does “do good” mean to me?
Do good for one another. Have empathy and take care of each other - you never know what someone else might be going through.
Do good for yourself. Eat well, exercise, treat yourself with respect and love.
Do good for the Earth. How are you taking care of our home?
Do good for the world. Lend a hand, volunteer, give back.
This particular concept reminded me of a time, that, unfortunately was tragic for my family. (I’ll keep it brief)In 2015, my sister and brother-in-law basically lived at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, as their 10-month-old baby boy was fighting for his life, in need of a heart transplant. It was an almost 2 month long fight until he eventually passed away. It was obviously our worst nightmare and something we all had to work through / are still working through. But I truly can’t help but think about how much good I saw in people during that time. The Nationwide Children’s Hospital staff, family members, friends, even the community lent hands in more ways than I can even count or remember. Tragedy sometimes brings out the best in people.
So here I am today…and I love what I do, but I want to offer more. I want to make it a constant part of who I am to always try to “do good” however that may be. This sweatshirt is just a MINOR way to begin…because we all have to start somewhere.
I hope when you wear this, you remember all the ways that you can do good.
For you. For others. For the earth. For the world.
